Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) leader and former coup master Sitiveni Rabuka is the new opposition leader in the Fiji parliament.
It was decided today during the first sitting of the parliament after the election on 14 November.
The Fiji Times reported that Mr Rabuka was the only nomination for the position.
It was moved by the former opposition leader from SODELPA Ro Teimumu Kepa and seconded by National Federation Party leader Biman Prasad.
The parliament also returned its previous speaker, Jiko Luveni, to the post.
The opposition candidate was Tanya Waqanika.
