The French striker Thierry Henry could miss the start of next year's World Cup football finals following a decision by FIFA to investigate his blatant handball incident in France's final qualifying match against Ireland.
If FIFA's Disciplinary Committee rule against Henry, who handled the ball in the build-up to France's crucial goal in the playoff in Paris last month that saw them secure their place in the finals, they could impose a match ban that could see him miss the start of the finals in South Africa next June.
In the meantime FIFA have ruled out the introduction of goal-line assistant referees at next year's showpiece in South Africa.
