Christchurch City Council has revealed a staff restructuring between 2013 and 2014 cost the city more than $1 million.
The council spent nearly $700,000 in redundancy payments to 26 employees and more than $300,000 in consultancy fees.
The council said the revised structure was saving about $230,000 a year.
Current chief executive Kathleen Edwards announced another restructure last month, which if approved will see another 60 jobs go.
