Two police have been seriously injured after their vehicle collided with a bus while they were responding to an accident.
The crash occurred in central Auckland at about 3.20pm at the intersection of Beach Road and Tangihua Street.
Police said in a statement the vehicle entered the intersection at low speed under lights and sirens when the collision with the bus happened.
One officer was taken to Auckland City Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, and a second with moderate injuries.
Occupants onboard the bus at the time were also being assessed at the scene.
"I would like to acknowledge the members of the public who immediately came to our officers' aid and assisted at the scene," Auckland City Road Policing Manager Inspector Greg Brand said.
An investigation into the crash is under way.
