Acting hospital chief in Honiara say hospital will be hard hit by clinic closures

The Acting Chief Executive at the National Referral Hospital, Dr Chester Kumar, says the closure of the clinics will place enormous pressure on his resources.

Dr Kumar says the hospital's out-patients clinic will bear the brunt of an anticipated increase in patients

"There will certainly be an influx and it's going to put a strain on us, especially the out-patients services here. We have limited staff there and with the influx there will certainly be a burden on us."

Dr Kumar says the clinics usually serve most of the people on Guadacanal so the hospital's limited resources will be stretched even further.
