The Fiji government has moved to qualm criticism of inordinate pay hikes for its heads of departments by offering payrises for public servants in the budget announcement.
The regime says those earning less than 8,400 US dollars a year will get a 23 percent pay rise.
Smaller pay rises will apply for those earning more.
The Ministry of Information says principal-level officers earning between 18,500 and 25,000 US dollars will get an eight percent increase, and those at the Director and Deputy Secretary level will get raises ranging from seven percent to four percent.
In September, the Government announced salary rises of up to 192 per cent for permanent secretaries, some of whom are now earning more than 119,000 US dollars.
The regime leader's pay remains secret despite repeated promises this year that it would be made public.
