A man who was shot in the back in north-west Auckland is in critical condition.
Police said a man had gunshot wounds to the lower back and buttock area after an incident about 4.30am on Brigham Creek Road.
The 33-year-old was taken to Auckland Hospital, and police said his condition was critical.
Brigham Creek Road was partly closed between State Highway 16 and Joseph McDonald Drive, but has since reopened.
