Police have charged a man with murder in relation to the death of a man in Sydenham yesterday afternoon.
The 28-year-old man will appear in Christchurch District Court today.
Police are continuing to appeal to anyone who saw the 50-year-old victim's vehicle on Saturday: a grey Holden Calais, registration LDE987.
It is believed to have left the Ōtautahi Community Housing Trust on Brougham Street at 11.15am on Saturday, then was abandoned 20 minutes later on Monsaraz Boulevard near Halswell Road.
Ōtautahi Community Housing Trust (ŌCHT) tenancy and property general manager Robert Hardie said all tenants were visited yesterday.
"We have contacted tenants to let them know they can access support if they need it."
He said the team had door-knocked all residents outside the police cordon in Korimako and Karoro lanes in the social housing complex and offered them extra support.
More visits would follow on Tuesday, he said.
