Reports from Papua New Guinea say the autonomous region of Bougainville is facing serious constraints because its administration has failed to get any of recurring grants this year.
The Post Courier reports that the Autonomous Bougainville Government, the ABG, is operating on just under ten million US dollars while the budget of the autonomous province is $US 111 million
The ABG is entitled to these funds under provisions of the 2001 Bougainville Peace Agreement which is enshrined in the PNG constitution.
The PNG government is yet to say when it will release the funds.
The ABG President John Momis says while he understands the current economic constraints, the ABG is entitled to these funds.
