A man has been charged and will appear in court after what is believed to be a fatal shooting incident in the Auckland suburb of Flat Bush.
A man was found dead at an address on Bezar Place in the early hours of Boxing Day.
Police said a 38-year-old has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and is due to appear in the Manukau District Court today.
Further charges are also being considered.
There continues to be a police presence on the street as the investigation continues.
A post mortem is expected to be carried out tomorrow on the victim.
Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to this incident.
"Police are unable to release the name of the victim at this stage until all procedures around formal identification and next of kin notification are complete," Counties Manukau Police detective inspector Tofilau Fa'amanuia Va'aelua said.
"Police would like to thank residents for their patience and understanding at this time while police continue to carry out our work."
