Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and Emergency Management Minister Mark Mitchell are in Hawke's Bay, one year on from Cyclone Gabrielle.
Eleven people were killed when the natural disaster tore through the East Coast in February 2023.
Luxon and Mitchell were doing a cyclone recovery farm tour in Hastings on Sunday and would join a volunteers celebration in the afternoon.
The pair were expected to make an announcement during a media stand-up.
