Police appeal for information after death of cyclist on Portobello Road in Dunedin

Police are urging members of the public with information to come forward after the sudden death of a cyclist in Dunedin.

Police were called at 3.30pm on Sunday afternoon to reports a man had been found dead on Portobello Road, on the Otago Peninsula.

They wanted to speak to anyone who may have seen the cyclist in the Portobello and Taiaroa Head areas between 2pm and 4pm on Sunday.

The man was wearing black and grey bike shorts, a distinctive blue T-shirt with a bright yellow Eurobike logo on the back and a black, long-sleeved top underneath.

The cyclist was also wearing an orange bicycle helmet and riding a silver road bike with blue front forks.

His death had been referred to the coroner.
