Kiribati Vice President sacked for breaching travel policy

The Kiribati president has sacked his deputy for breaching the government's travel policy.

Vice President Kourabi Nenem was stood down a few weeks ago over concerns about an unsanctioned visit to Indonesia.

The opposition had also raised a number of concerns about Mr Nenem, including his involvement in delays to the redevelopment of the sport stadium at Bairiki.

RNZ Pacific's correspondent has reported that President Taneti Maamau has sacked Mr Nenem.
