Today's first scheduled meeting of the Public Accounts Committee of the new Fiji parliament has been called off.
The Committee meeting has been deferred because of objections by the government.
According to the Secretary General to Parliament, Viniana Namosimalua, only the Speaker can rule on the matter but she is in Indonesia.
The Committee chairman, Professor Biman Prasad, has told local media he will release a statement later today.
The Committee was expected to look into the audits of government accounts from 2007-2013 which have recently been released.
The audit reports have prompted allegations of lax practices of the pre-election regime, which was led by Frank Bainimarama, who was also the Finance Minister.
