The Green Party is in Auckland CBD for their election night party.
About 450 staff and volunteers have accepted invitations to the party at the Grid X Building near the waterfront.
Co-leaders Marama Davidson and James Shaw are due to arrive about 8.15pm and will then give speeches to the crowd.
MPs Golriz Ghahraman and and Chloe Swarbrick are also attending.
Swarbrick, who is standing in Auckland Central, said they always knew it would be a close race.
"The feeling is that we left everything out there on the floor, we ran a campaign that we are incredibly proud of; we built a community along the way."
Swarbrick said turnout will be crucial for the Greens. She had heard from some scrutineers that there were huge lines at some of the voting booths and they had run out of voting papers for specials.
She told RNZ's Corin Dann the challenge in Auckland Central was being the perceived "third party" candidate during the second lockdown.
Guests at the Green event will be served canapes including sushi and a bread plate, which includes vegan and gluten free options.
For entertainment the party is keeping it simple with a Spotify playlist.
