Tuvaluans will vote for a new government on 9 September this year.
On Friday, the Sopoaga Government began the general election process with the signing of the Notice of General Election.
The commissioner of elections, Tepaukie Sotaga, said public announcements have now started on Radio Tuvalu to explain to voters the schedule of events and legal requirements for the poll.
Parliament is expected to be dissolved next week.
In August Tuvalu is to host the Pacific Islands Forum summit and associated meetings.
