And the family of a Canadian couple missing for days in the South Island are holding out hope they are still alive. The paper says bits of a wrecked campervan belonging to Connor Hayes and Joanna Lam were found yesterday close to a slip near Haast.
Waikato Times
The Waikato Times also leads with the America's Cup. While Dean Barker is busy trying to win two more races, there's a lot of talk in San Francisco about the future of the Cup. The paper says sceptics are being won over by an absorbing final between two evenly matched teams.
In other news: the Mercury Bay Boating Club in Coromandel has offered its services to help defend the cup if it returns to New Zealand. Immediate past-commodore Al Gould told the paper 'we've got a bay, we've got an island just like Alcatraz but it's called Great Mercury and Sir Michael Fay lives there.'
Dominion Post
The Dominion Post has more details on the the death of Tawa woman, Amanda Taufale. The paper says her former partner has pleaded guilty to her murder and will be sentenced next month. It says he hid in the roof of the house for eight hours before killing Ms Taufale.
In other news the paper has a photograph of Downstage Theatre chief executive Hilary Beaton is pctured. She is one of five staff who will lose their jobs when the theatre closes on Saturday.
The Press
Missing Canadian couple Connor Hayes and Joanna Lam are pictured in The Press. Police will search the Haast river on Wednesday morning after pieces of the couple's rental van were found 80 metres down a cliff on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, a linesman is in hospital after being blasted by a 6600 volts from a power line and then falling eight metres to the ground.

The Otago Daily Times has more on the missing Canadian couple. The rear wheels and chassis of the couple's rental van has been spotted down a cliff. The paper says the body of the vehicle and engine are yet to be found, and there's no sign of the couple.
And Queenstown Lakes District Council has voted unanimously to build a convention centre near the CBD, while a private developer has vowed to lodge consent for a competing centre.
