Employees of the StarKist Samoa cannery in American Samoa are working reduced hours apparently because of a shortage of fish.
Cannery workers have told KHJ News that StarKist Samoa has begun closing down production tables in a staggered shutdown.
The reduction comes as purse seiners are starting to head out to sea again after lying idle since December.
The fleet was in port because of the collapse of the fishing treaty between the US and the Pacific, which has just been revived with a new interim deal for 2016.
