The main hospital in Papua New Guinea's capital Port Moresby says its morgue is overcrowded and it has put out a call for bodies to be claimed before a mass burial this week.
PNG's state broadcaster NBC reports unclaimed corpses have been in the morgue since August last year and many have decomposed.
The station reports Port Moresby General Hospital is urging relatives, friends and the general public to come forward and claim the bodies.
The hospital says the morgue is affected by power blackouts and the hospital's standby generator can't be depended on.
The hospital and the National Capital District Commission will conduct the mass burial.
