Police are on the hunt for a remand prisoner who escaped custody while at Hawke's Bay Hospital's accident and emergency department.

Police said Dion King escaped about 7.15pm yesterday and had not been found, despite patrols and cordons.
Mr King would have been noticeable when he left the hospital as he was handcuffed at the time, they said.
The police did not believe there was any risk to the public.
Anyone who saw Mr King or knew his whereabouts was asked to contact police by calling 111.
