Fire fighters have contained a large blaze in a factory building in Christchurch.
The fire at the two-storey furniture manufacturer on Watts Road, in the suburb of Sockburn, has sent smoke across the city.
A Fire Service spokesperson said it received several calls shortly before 12.30pm with flames reported being seen through the roof of the building.
The fire is now under control, the spokesperson said.
There are road closures in the area and motorists are being advised to avoid the area.
Fire crews remain at the scene as fire fighters continue to work to put the fire out.
