Kiribati capital in lockdown as Covid-19 case numbers climb

There is concern with the number of Covid-19 cases in Kiribati "soaring" that the government and people are ill-prepared to face the pandemic.

The Kiribati health ministry has confirmed that the nation's atolls have now surpassed 100 Covid-19 infections with 37 new positive cases reported on Wednesday.

There are 116 people infected on the atolls - 36 imported and 80 local cases.
