Former Black Caps Derek Stirling dies after short illness

The former Black Cap fast bowler Derek Stirling has died after a short illness.

He was 62.

Stirling played six tests for New Zealand in the 1980's and first class cricket for Central Districts and Wellington.

He made his first class debut for Central Districts as a 19-year-old, taking 6-75 against Northern Districts.

His test debut came against Pakistan in Lahore in 1984 while his last test was against England at the Oval in London in 1986, taking 13 wickets all up.

He also played six one day internationals for New Zealand.
