Police investigating aggravated roberry in Christchurch

Police are investigating an attempted aggravated robbery at a fruit and vegetable store in Christchurch.

At 9am today, police were called to the Grower Direct Market on Yaldhurst Road, Sockburn, Christchurch.

Three offenders entered the store with what was believed to be a firearm and attempted to rob the store, but were unsuccessful.

Police said in a statement that other customers were in the store at the time, but no one was harmed.

Following the attempted robbery, the offenders fled the scene in a vehicle which police have since located close to the initial scene.

Enquiries are ongoing and police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to contact 111 and quote the event number P049400211.

A youth has been arrested following another attempted aggravated robbery at a grocery store in Hawera last night.

The 15-year-old boy is scheduled to appear in Hawera District Court on 24 January.
