A French report has highlighted deficiencies in the health care provided in overseas territories and suggests reform in New Caledonia and Wallis and Futuna.
The Social and Economic Council says, in a report obtained by the AFP new agency, that specialist care is limited and per capita health expenditure is less than half of what is provided to a patient in mainland France.
It also says no social impact is being considered for women in French Polynesia's outer islands who need to give birth in Tahiti but are then forced to leave their other chidden behind for up two months.
