Pupils at a Northern Marianas school that had been attended by two sisters who went missing last week, are receiving counselling.

The disappearance of 10 year old Faloma Luhk and her 9 year old sister, Maleina, is affecting not just their families but also their friends and classmates at Kagman Elementary School.

A major search was launched on Saipan last Wednesday afternoon after the girls failed to arrive at school that morning.

At the weekend military aircraft were brought into the search but there has been no sign of the girls.

The school principal, Ignacia Demapan, said that many of the sisters' closest friends and classmates are struggling to understand what has happened.
