The Otago all-rounder Sam Wells has been added to the New Zealand cricket squad for the one-off Test against Zimbabwe starting in Napier on Thursday.
The addition of Wells takes the squad up to the full complement of 13 players.
Black Caps coach John Wright says Wells is a talented all-rounder and they're confident if the opportunity arises he will perform well at international level for New Zealand.
Wright says he's impressed during the three-day tour match in Gisborne with Wells' batting, and his skills with the ball will give good balance to the side.
