Two face firearms charges after fatal shooting in Auckland

Two people have been charged following the death of a man in Avondale in Auckland this morning.

The police say they were called to a house on Saintly Lane, following reports of gunshots.

A man was found injured at the scene, and later died in hospital.

A 24-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman have been jointly charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a pistol and unlawful possession of ammunition.

They are due to appear in Auckland District Court on Monday.

The police found the two firearms at the address following a scene examination this morning.

Formal identification of the victim is still ongoing, while police are also trying to locate next of kin overseas.
