Dunedin detectives uncovered a loaded shotgun hidden beside a young child's bed during a raid.
The police executed the search warrant at a residential address in the Dunedin suburb of Helensburgh yesterday.
Officers found the loaded sawn-off, double-barrel shotgun hidden down the side of a child's bed in the house.
Acting Detective Sergeant, Dylan Ross, said officers also uncovered two pistols in a vehicle on the property as well as cannabis, MDMA and other drug paraphernalia.
A 31-year-old man has been charged with unlawfully possessing the firearms and possession of illegal substances.
Ross said further charges were pending.
