The High Court has imposed a freezing order on assets belonging to Lorraine Skiffington, the former partner of disgraced Māori leader, Sir Ngatata Love.

Last October, Love, the former leader of the iwi organisation, the Wellington Tenths Trust, was jailed for two years and six months, having been found guilty of obtaining property by deception.

At a hearing last week the Tenths Trust's lawyer told the High Court the freezing order was sought because the Trust claimed she had knowingly assisted Love to breach his obligations to it.

In today's judgement, Justice Clark rules the apparent strength of the Trust's claim warranted the granting of the freezing order.
