A large tree has fallen and blocked a major thoroughfare in the Auckland suburb of Royal Oak.
Police responded shortly before 11.30am on Monday to reports of the tree blocking Manukau Road, between the intersections of Symonds Street and Lombardy Green.
No injuries had been reported.
The section of road was expected to be blocked for some time, and motorists were advised to avoid the area or take alternate routes, police said.
Auckland Harbour Bridge reduced to four lanes each way
Meanwhile, severe winds gusts prompted the closure of lanes on the Auckland Harbour Bridge on Monday afternoon.
NZ Transport Agency said the bridge was down to four lanes in each direction.
After wind gusts eased, NZTA lifted all restrictions, and said no further lane closures were expected.
Earlier on Monday, the bridge was reduced to two lanes in each direction; further reductions may be required, the agency said.
