Former head of GCSB not paid out

19:26 pm on 22 April 2013

A former top official at the Government's spy agency was not given a payout when he resigned from the bureau.

Hugh Wolfensohn was deputy director of the Government Communications Security Bureau and acting director when internet entrepreneur Kim Dotcom was illegally monitored.

He went on leave in late 2012 and resigned from the bureau early in February this year.

In response to an Official Information request for details of any exit package, the GCSB said Mr Wolfensohn did not receive a payout.

It would not release further details relating to his departure for privacy reasons.
