Labour stays on attack over comments by PM

13:00 pm on 12 October 2011

Labour still insists the Prime Minister misled Parliament with comments he made regarding Standard and Poor's.

Last week, John Key told the House the agency had said a credit rating downgrade was more likely under a Labour government.

Standard and Poor's moved quickly to reject Mr Key's claim, saying it never comments on individual political parties.

Mr Key says the information was emailed to him by a person who attended a breakfast of economists in September and he did not check with the agency itself before making the claim in Parliament.

Labour says Mr Key has been caught out lying and should be brought before Parliament's Privileges committee.
