One of Auckland's best known landmarks, One Tree Hill, will be closed to vehicles at night after concerns about anti-social behaviour.
Auckland City Councillor Greg Moyle says gates will be installed to ensure motorists can't get to the summit. However, people will still be able to walk up.
Mr Moyle says the decision to install gates follows community concerns about anti-social behaviour on the hill after dark including drinking, fighting, vandalism and graffiti.
Mr Moyle says the gates, costing $30,000, are cheaper and more effective than mounting CCTV cameras.
