A large legal firm is going head-to-head with the big four accounting firms as well as boutique operators in the business advisory and consultancy market.
Chapman Tripp has spotted what it thinks is a gap in the market where legal matters and business consultancy intersect.
The firm's chief executive partner Pip England said business consulting was a natural extension of the legal services the firm already offered.
"We recognise that businesses are grappling with increased regulatory burden and scrutiny from regulators," he said.
The new service was called CT Consulting.
Lead partner Bevan Miles said the consulting arm of Chapman Tripp would partner with boards, senior executives and management on governance, risk management, culture and conduct and compliance needs.
