Seven Pacific nations have raised concern at the UN Human Rights Council on the human rights situation in Indonesia 's Papua region, or West Papua.
Vanuatu's Justice Minister delivered the call at current session of the Council in Geneva on behalf of his country and Tonga, Nauru, Palau, Tuvalu, the Marshall Islands, and Solomon Islands.
While it prompted a stern response from Indonesia, it's another sign of a growing international movement advocating for West Papuan rights, as Johnny Blades explained to Jamie Tahana.
