Covid-19: Auckland massage parlour visitors urged to get tested after six cases linked to location

An Auckland massage parlour has become the focus of multiple exposure events for Covid-19.

So far, six infected people have been linked to the Pelican Club in Eden Terrace.

The Northern Regional Health Coordination Centre said anyone who was at the premises between 22 December and 31 Friday, should isolate at home for 10 days after their visit, regardless of whether they have symptoms.

It said if symptoms did develop, they should get an additional test and remain at home until all test results come back negative.

Staff at the Pelican Club are being advised by the manager on what action to take.

There were 27 new community cases of the coronavirus reported today.

Advice for people who were at the location of interest:

  • Isolate (stay at home) for 10 days after the last visit to Pelican Club
  • Get tested 5 days AND 8 days after your were last at the venue during these dates, regardless of whether or not you have symptoms
  • If symptoms develop at any time during the 10 days, get an additional test immediately
  • Stay at home until all test results come back negative
