Bangladesh restricted the Black Caps to 136 for 5 after 33.4 overs in the first one-dayer in Dhaka before the match was abandoned due to rain and lightning.

Mustafizur Rahman picked up three wickets, while Nasum Ahmed struck twice on a tricky pitch where fast bowlers saw the ball sticking in the surface and spinners got plenty of turn and bounce.

Will Young scored a hard fought 91-ball 58 after the Black Caps lost early wickets, while Henry Nicholls made 44 as the Bangladesh bowlers dominated proceedings.

However, wet weather ultimately ended either side's chances of victory.

There were two rain breaks, with the second one ending the game.

Bangladesh had won the toss chose to bowl first with the match starting after a rain delay.

Game two of the three match series is tomorrow night at the same venue.
