Bad stench closes Christchurch school for second day

11:52 am on 10 June 2016

The Canterbury Regional Council says it still doesn't know where a smell which caused a Christchurch school to close is coming from.

Children at Bromley Primary School were kept inside when the gas-like smell was first noticed on Wednesday and the school closed yesterday after authorities failed to identify the source of the odour.

The school is also closed today.

Council staff used a gas detector on piles of soil in Maces Road this morning, but nothing was detected.

The council said it had visited Bromley Primary School and there was no smell there today.
