Massey's Palmerston North campus to reopen after threat

16:41 pm on 7 October 2015

Massey University will reopen its entire Palmerston North campus tomorrow after part of it was evacuated this afternoon.

The university evacuated everyone from its Registry Building as a precaution after it received a threatening note.

Police have been searching the university and have asked people to stay away while they continue this afternoon.

But the university's Vice-Chancellor said police were satisfied there was no direct threat to anyone at the university and the Registry Building will open as usual tomorrow morning.

Steve Maharey said the university would increase security over the next few days.

The incident followed threats made to Otago University and Victoria University.
