The Spinal Cord Society is closing its Dunedin research laboratory because of a lack of funding.
The society is a non-profit dedicated to finding a cure for spinal cord injuries and type-1 diabetes.
The Society's founder, Noela Vallis, told members and supporters in an email that the lab can no longer operate due to a lack of guaranteed funding and rent costs.
Ms Vallis said the Spinal Cord Society would continue its advocacy work and funding other research projects.
