There was good news for music fans in the South Island after the Real Groovy music store in Christchurch was saved.
The store's manager, Paul Huggins, has bought the store as an independent, almost three weeks after the chain was placed into receivership.
Mr Huggins is confident he can revive the Christchurch business which as well as selling CDs, vinyl and DVDs also stocks clothing, books and other cultural items.
He says all 14 staff have been retained, and the customers have been very supportive of the purchase.
It is the second Real Groovy store to be taken over independently after the Cuba Street store in Wellington was bought by its manager.
However, the Dunedin outlet closed on Monday while negotiations are underway for the future of the iconic Auckland store in Queen Street.
