Water for Rewa residents in Fiji should be back on by tonight

14:16 pm on 27 December 2007

Water is expected to be restored by this evening to one thousand people who were left without water for two days after a water main burst in the Fijian capital of Suva.

The burst pipe created an air lock which cut off villages in the Rewa Delta district of Fiji on Christmas Day.

Residents say they have had to fetch water from a communal water tank while others have been using river water for showers.

Four engineers are working on the problem and say the water will be back on by tonight.
