A motorcyclist who was critically injured in a Palmerston North crash earlier this week has died in hospital.

The crash happened on 6 January at the intersection of Victoria Ave and Manapouri Crescent in Hokowhitu shortly after 2pm, a police spokesperson said.

It involved a car and a motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was taken to Palmerston North Hospital with critical injuries and was later transferred to Wellington Hospital for further treatment.

"Tragically, he died in Wellington Hospital on 9 January," the spokesperson said.

"Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones."
