Saturday is the final day for those living on flat land in the residential red zone in Christchurch to accept Government offers on their properties and move out of their homes.
The deadline affects the suburbs of Southshore and South Brighton which were given one more month than red zone areas in the rest of the city.
A zoning decision is yet to be made on damaged homes in the hill suburbs.
The Wider Earthquake Communities Action Network said many people affected by the deadline have been successful in gaining case by case extensions allowing them to stay in their homes for up to another six months.
Spokesperson Mike Coleman said a court decision asking the Government to reconsider its offers to owners of un-insured red zone properties means many will be staying put until the issue is resolved.
