Man charged with arson after Auckland fires

Charges have been laid, after two building fires in Auckland early this morning.

Police were called to the scene of a building fire on Kent Street in Newmarket at about 6.10am.

Officers believed the blaze was linked to another fire earlier in the morning on Manukau Road, Epsom.

A 36-year-old man was arrested and expected to appear in Auckland District Court on Sunday, facing two counts of arson.

No-one was injured in either fire.
