Goodnight Kiwi creator dies aged 91

Sam Harvey, the cartoonist who created the much loved Goodnight Kiwi has died, aged 91.

The animation marked the end of TV for almost 20 years, until 24-hour transmission began in the 1990s.

Stuff.co.nz reports the accompanying tune was an arrangement of a Maori lullaby, Hine e Hine.

The cinematographer who filmed the cartoons, Henk Prins, told Morning Report it took four hours to shoot.
