Uber has been given the go-ahead to appeal last year's Employment Court ruling that its drivers are employees and not contractors.
At stake for the drivers are workplace rights as employees, including earning the minimum wage, access to sick leave, holiday pay, Kiwisaver contributions and other benefits.
First Union, along with E tū union took the original case on behalf of four Uber drivers.
