A Gisborne model of Captain Cook's ship Endeavour is getting another overhaul 40 years after it was first put up in the city's streets.
The first restored model goes on display again on Monday, while the second model undergoes the same makeover.
The two models, built in 1969 for the Cook bicentenary celebrations, have been rebuilt before, but were showing signs of rotting and becoming a hazard.
The latest rebuild is being done by Awapuni Joinery with local man Peter Pole, who has sailed on square-rigged ships, doing the work.
