An alert for dangerous avalanche conditions remains for alpine areas around Aoraki/Mt Cook.

Storm-slab avalanches big enough to kill, injure or bury a person were sighted yesterday.
Some debris had come down as low as 1200 metres.
There is also an alert for heightened avalanche conditions in high alpine areas at Mt Hutt and the Craigieburn Range.
